Micah Fischer loves to build things.
A natural-born tinkerer, he has been working with reclaimed wood since high school, when he reconfigured an old waterbed into a matching headboard and footboard that is still in use today. That project was one of many that used any material he could get his hands on.
Since then, he has developed custom built-ins, tables and benches for friends and family, and created many imaginative gifts out of scrap lumber and barrel staves for lucky recipients. Each piece he creates is unique, built with material and style that carries a story to its new home.
Steamboat Mercantile started as a way for Micah to combine his love of building beautiful things for people with his favorite place, bringing his unique mix of materials and imagination to the mountains behind his home in Fort Collins.
You can find Micah and his wife Jenny at the Steamboat Farmers Market during the summer of 2025. See Micah’s work in person, learn more about the found materials he uses, and maybe take something fun home with you.
